PRESIDENT
Ken Watkins is the Founder and President of Step of Faith Outreach, Inc. Ken received the inspiration to start the non-profit from a dream and call of action to support and serve families in Franklin County. Through his clear vision, determination, and insight regarding the needs of the county, he was able to bring the dream to life. Since SOFO’s incorporation in 2005, the organization has continuously provided resources to Franklin county and surrounding communities. Preparing and delivering 5,000+ meals weekly during the summer months to children in need is one of Ken’s most fulfilling accomplishments.
Vice President
Patsy Watkins is the Program Director for the Boyd Outz Learning Center. Patsy has devoted the last the 18 years to supporting families and communities within the Northeast Georgia region. Through Step of Faith Outreach, Patsy has organized and maintained the summer food service program and the after-school program providing tutoring, technology resources, dinner, and evergreen emotional support to youth in Franklin County. Programs associated with the Step of Faith Outreach have been successful due to Patsy’s heart and energy for the community.
DIRECTOR
Brooks L. Benton lives in Jefferson GA. As of 12/1/22, Brooks has retired as Prison Warden. He is a father of 2 daughters and is 26 years married to Sheconda Benton. He is currently working as the Resource Officer and Coach at Jefferson High School.
Technology
Pat Rape has lived in Franklin County since 1990, where she pursued an opportunity at Athens Tech and later Madison County High School as a student advisor. Pat is passionate about supporting and mentoring the youth. She believes the upcoming generations are our future and deserves all of our efforts and resources to reach their full potential with healthy bodies and minds. Pat’s personal philosophy regarding the youth connected her to the Boyd Outz Learning center, where she has provided invaluable support, mentorship, and leadership for nearly a decade. In her free time, Pat enjoys gardening and spending time in nature.
